MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Brisbane Roar put up an underwhelming display in their Round One 2-0 defeat away to Melbourne City, with a lack of creativity in midfield a sign they will miss the departed Thomas Broich this season. Marquee striker Massimo Maccarone was starved of service, but John Aloisi’s side have the quality to rebound, particularly at home and if Holman is fit to provide the spark. The team finished the last campaign in good form at home, winning their last three matches.
Adelaide United also failed to inspire in their 1-1 draw away to Wellington Phoenix but they have had a good FFA Cup run with three consecutive wins ahead of the start of the new season, suggesting they will be no easy beats under Marco Kurz. Danish signing Johan Absalonsen scored on his debut in Round One, while fellow new acquisitions Karim Matmour and Daniel Adlung will be better for the run out. The team are however winless in the last four in league action, claiming three draws during that spell.
Roar’s lack of spark will bite them, with United happy to settle for an away draw.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE – BRISBANE ROAR

There have been plenty of goals when these two sides have met in recent times. In fact, there have been 23 goals in the past seven clashes and in five of those past seven encounters, it has been the home side who has scored first. With Massimo Maccarone and Fahid Ben Khalfallah in attack, Brisbane Roar have got the firepower to continue this trend.

HEAD TO HEAD
Honours were even between these two clubs last season, with Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United winning once and the other match a 1-1 draw. However, Roar won the only encounter in Brisbane 4-0.
