Senegal: The new top favorite ( Recent Form: W W L W W )

Now Morocco and Egypt, among others, are eliminated in the eighth finals, Senegal is suddenly the top favorite to win this tournament. That can also be expected from the Lions of Teranga, because Senegal has world players such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Sadio Mané. On paper, Senegal has the strongest possible selection of the remaining countries at the Africa Cup, except that football is not decided on paper. At Senegal they know that too. For example, Senegal did not succeed in finishing in the group stage over Algeria and the Senegalese also had quite a difficult time in the eighth final with the much weaker Uganda. Mané earns more than the entire selection of Uganda on his own, but that is no guarantee. The 27-year-old Mané made sure that Senegal won 1-0 against Uganda, as the winger scored the only goal of the match in the fifteenth minute. In the 65 minutes that followed, the Senegal of Aliou Cissé was barely in danger and moreover Mané missed a penalty after more than an hour of football. Despite that miss, the Lions of Teranga are in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup and with Benin as their opponent, there is enough perspective for Senegal to reach the next round.

Benin: Want to turn off another title favorite ( Recent Form: W D D D D )

Benin, the number 88 of the FIFA world ranking, is suddenly in the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup. A great achievement. The Squirrels played four games in this Africa Cup and none of those four games Benin managed to win, but the financially poor country is still in the quarterfinals. That naturally brings a lot of joy to the people of Benin, because nobody expected this. It was already a miracle that after three draws, Benin survived a group with Ghana, Cameroon and Guinea-Bissau. Not to mention the great performance of the Beniners in the quarterfinals against Morocco. The formation of coach Michel Dussuyer lasted 120 minutes against the potential tournament winner. However, they did not complain about happiness with Benin either. For example, 23-year-old Moïse Adilehou scored his third goal in professional football against Morocco, while Ajax star Hakim Ziyech missed a penalty in extra time, causing Benin to pull an extension out of the fire against Morocco. Eventually De Eekhoorns, who played almost 25 minutes in the extension with ten men, held out and were better at taking penalties. The question is whether Benin can repeat the same feat as Senegal is the opponent on Wednesday evening. One thing is certain: regardless of the result against Senegal, they can already look back on a great tournament at Benin. Central defender Khaled Adénon received two yellow cards against Morocco from referee Helder Martins de Carvalho and is therefore suspended for the quarterfinals. On the other hand, the absolute star of this Benin, Steve Mounié, is back from a suspension.

After all, it is clear that Senegal is the towering favorite for this game. The Senegalese have a much better team than Benin, which is what the collective must do. In Senegal they have seen what this Benin is capable of, but I don't think the Lions of Teranga will be surprised just like Morocco. I'm going for the Senegal -1.
